'I Will Not Kill' Campaign

Conscientious Objection — It Takes Courage!

According to the law, a conscientious objector is a person who objects to participation in all forms of war and whose belief is based on an ethical, moral, or religious belief system.

To be a CO, you do not have to be a pacifist or believe in God. You also do not have to oppose the use of violence in personal self-defense.  BUT you must oppose participating in ALL wars.

The "I Will Not Kill” campaign affirms the right of conscientious objection and opposes any future draft.  The “I Will Not Kill” campaign aims to:

    · affirm the right of conscientious objection and support the right of people to have a choice whether or not to serve

  · oppose a future draft

  · encourage those who are targeted by recruiters to check out the reality of the military

  · raise awareness of resistance to war and share the ideas with other youth

  · educate high school and college age youth about the impacts of and alternatives to war

  · dismantle the selective service system and promote a culture of life

PLEASE LET EVERY TEEN KNOW that the Fellowship for Reconciliation has instituted a program whereby youth can sign a pledge not to kill; the pledge will be kept in FOR files should the signee ever need proof of intention. This is open to all, regardless of religious affiliation OR no religious affiliation.  This is for youth who may wish to have a record of intent on file with an external organization other than their home meeting or church.  For more info see:
